Vescartes is a UK clothing label built on one idea: what you wear should say something. Rather than printing a logo on a blank and calling it streetwear, every Vescartes piece starts with original artwork, a subject worth putting on a garment, and is finished on fabric heavy enough to carry it properly.

The artwork

Look across the range and a clear thread runs through it. The Bushido and Ronin pieces draw on the code and imagery of the samurai; the Kitsune references the fox of Japanese folklore; the Michelangelo and Last Supper designs bring Renaissance art onto heavyweight cotton; and the Tree of Life, Fallen Angel and Heavens Eclipse pieces work with symbolism that has meant something to people for centuries. Designs rooted in something lasting do not date the way a slogan does.

The garments

Artwork is only half of it. The hoodies use heavyweight cotton with a brushed inner face so the print sits flat and the piece keeps its shape. The denim is structured and firm, softening and moulding to you over months of wear. Jackets are built for real British weather, and the jerseys give you a lighter layer for spring and autumn. The cut across the range is a modern regular fit: room to move, without exaggerated proportions that date quickly.
